Pictofy makes images with AI, and that uses electricity. We would rather say exactly what happens than put a label on it. Here is what we do, and what we have chosen not to do.

Where the images are made

Images are generated in data centres in Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland — grids powered primarily by hydro, wind and geothermal energy. We chose those centres, and opted out of the rest of Europe, for exactly that reason.

Your data — account, pictograms, schedules — is stored in the EU (Frankfurt). This is also covered in our privacy policy.

What one image costs in electricity

One pictogram takes about six seconds on a single GPU. At the processor's maximum draw (700 W) that is roughly 1 Wh — one phone charge covers a couple of hundred pictograms. The figure is measured on our own runs, not estimated, and we update it if it changes.

What we don't do

We don't buy carbon offsets, and we don't call Pictofy climate-neutral, carbon-compensated or green. From September 2026 the EU treats such statements as misleading when they rest on compensation rather than real changes in one's own operations — and we agree. What counts is where the electricity comes from, and how little is used.

What we contribute

We contribute 1% of revenue to carbon removal via Stripe Climate. It is a contribution — not an offset of Pictofy's use.

How we keep this page true

Everything on this page can be checked against our infrastructure. If we move something, we change the text first. Questions: hello@pictofy.app.
